Yes here’s a surprise new quarterly Wired / Tired / Expired jargon watch overviews, a mixed bag again. But much needed, it seems, as there’s much to promote or dis(mis)s.

For, discreetly not completely, winning at Go, taking the fame flag from this edition’s Tired contender.	The W of <fill in the blanks and colour the pictures>, e.g., medicine but now having extended so often into the mundane. See also many earlier posts of mine, as indication that the newness has been lost quite summarily.	Anyone who still thinks ‘robots’ as humanoid machines are the future, either writes for simpletons in a way that reveals the simpleton self or hasn’t understood in the first place.

Still going, maybe not very strong but exposing the ridicule of it all, ever more clearly.	Hang in there, best-option of the world!	If elected, the world will have a seriously bad hair day.

Ow yeah! The end purpose of all AI explained: To sell us even more in ever more devious ways …	Not even Linux but the nonderstood follow-up of user-centered design.	Sometimes in a last-ditch effort even renamed mobile only design. Will go the way of the books, sense returning to common.

Flex mesh work	Start-up Culture / Creative Incubator	Silicon Valley
Project-oriented and anything staffing-wise goes. No strict ‘policies’, just getting the ultimate High-Q resourcing in whatever way available.	Oh yes all the petty boys and girls getting ripped off off their ideas, talent and energy. Dumped subsquently.	Does hardware XOR consumerist-data. Both old.

Crypto	Backdoors	Security
Let’s all do it, transparently, in privacy-friendly apps, or on top of the less so.	Will not work Period	As if still using the container phrase means anything other than confusion.

OMG the Need For Regulation! Yes…, why not, exactly…?	Women have deliveries, men have balls but as this isn’t about cricket, drones have physical distribution potential. Some.	Yes, that’s the first and very foremost commmercial deployment of the category. Now what?

Just read Godin’s frustrum post and you’ll get it.	Of the right kind, not the ‘overthrow then what’ kind you m.r.n	The shorthand for / of the Clueless.

Caring for refugees	Expanding the EU	EU
Get real about the numbers, the risks. Humanity can fix this. Easily.	Expanding the mess exponentially, isn’t going to clean up.	Pronounced ‘Eeewwww!’. Why not ditch it, have a good cry, and start over again with a glacial-speed cultural integration first …!?

OK, any suggestions for next quarter’s (!) edition ..?

Ringtones on deaf ears

There seems to have been an explosion of (news over) ~mojis lately. Like, the past half year has seen a proliferation of subsets and niceties that, as a phenomenon, spell the end of interest in messaging.

As the phenomenon (not this which is great in any absolute measure) is so very much the same as we saw with ringtones…
Arrrg! Yes indeed they spelled the end of the introductory phase of mobiles. The more it became a fad to have some peculiar ‘tone, the more one exposed oneself as a somewhat (?) pathetic Laggard, not quite knowing yet how to have and treat a phone as perfectly normal tool without having to brag how great one was for having one in the first place.

Can you see the same with messaging? If not, you may be the one that actually paid for the nicest ringtone you disabled in shame for not getting any but negative recognition after a couple of days again.

Is the Valley over the hill ..?

This, about real estate. How some current wave of innovation is in its tail stages, like this. Is that bad, or is it a sign of health to enter the unhealthy stage ..? Riddles…
Or rather, it’s about how the dam break of the app effect gravitated to the black hole of Mountain View Et Al. But the wave of innovations that it spurred, or had spurred before and in parallel to it, too, now pulsars its way to other places as well, into the ‘outer space’ that the world is. As the collective built stuff that is unbound geographically, so the development (capabilities) spread as well. The ‘placelessness’ of the innovation is pulling ahead for real, finally. New (?) economies (China, India, Latin world) may have bigger natural language and native (sic) market areas, and the vast unrealized talent pools [I don’t mean the tiny fraction of happy few that transfer to CA but the other 99,5% as well]. Where the latter, in CA, natively there, may have lost steam, handicapped by the head start (law) in e.g., education and through the rising overhead of non-productives, the consumerists burden. And awaiting Schumpeter’s triumphant return.
So, the real estate might not matter too much, soon. All will be free to travel, anywhere, much more often, and still be innovation-productive. Ah, the ideal!

Hm, wanted for once (huh?) to not be negative, deriding but …

This here piece calls for comment. Like: Instating a quality seal for products that should be considered well-matured, almost outdated tiny point solutions; isn’t that overly stale² ..?

Because quality seals are issued for … procedural justice of the petrifying kind. And, AV – isn’t that almost the model for grossly-insufficient-in-and-on-themselves point solutions that have no field of development/progress left ..?

Oh well, not much use kicking a dead horse.

Jsut to put it down like that; we tend to see only the successes – of the time being. But the once were warriors of disruption aren’t all, around, anymore. Be ware the next hypes…

Tax reform, city closure: Really …?

With the Summer approaching (though not having the weather accordingly yet, here in NL), discussions about closing city centers to “old” diesels (even the types with filters that are cleaner that regular cars!), and changing settings in e-car subsidies because they prove so popular, just consider I drive nicely over 50MpG on average (incl traffic jams, city traffic)…:

Whereas most electric cars run on coal juice … So, putting it straightforward: Sh.t up.

OK, just to remind you that this actually is 2015, not 2014 or 2013 even, and the weather is getting quite warm up here on the Northern hemisphere. So … remember to check this out and weep for all those still not understanding… and remain stuck in the prepubescent stage whereas the mature of mind and spirit have already moved way forward and have reverted to baby faces.

Seems legit. Though one wonders whether and when currency reforms might, just might have skewed the picture. Though some of the above, are of recent times and we don’t really recall all that many reforms did we? Other than the Glass-Stegal revocation the repercussions of which we’re still battling to overcome.
